STORY :

First Half :

The movie begins with a normal raise without much stuff. Slowly the movie takes its beat and attains a good range with the "Simhamanti Chinnode" song with Namitha. The first half ends with a bombastic suspense and thrill which raises expectations on the second half. Audience enjoy the fun comedy in the first half a lot. Songs are also not bad. In a single word, first half is more than average. But still can do better.

Second Half :

With extreme expectations the second half begins. Director instead of taking the movie to flashback, slowly creates interest in the film and then pulls back to flashback where our Nayanatara enters the story. From here onwards starts the real movie., full of action and thrill. Last one hour of the movie is the heart to it. It was so brilliant that we feel, we can never see balayya so extra-ordinarily. The dialogues, his action, style. whatnot everything was exuberant. In all second part is brilliant.

Songs .. Direction .. Technical Aspects :

Picturization of songs and their correct timing were really good. Except in one case where there should not have been a song in the starting of second half, as people were deeply involved in the thrill. Technically speaking, the editing and VFX were superb. Better than a normal film. Songs were also good or atleast not bad that keeps the movie going and going.

Final Review:

With an above average rating on first half and simply superb rating on second half., Simha stands out to be a good hit to watch this weekend. It's time for our Balayya fans to celebrate after along time

Story

Nagarjuna’s under shoot film, under the direction of Radha Mohan is currently progressing at Hyderabad. Earlier the film was titled as ‘Payanam’. However, the film-makers are now said to be considering ‘Gaganam’ as its title. The movie is being produced by Dil Raju under the banner Matinee Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.

The film has Nagarjuna and Anushka in the lead roles. Nagarjuna will be seen as a powerful police officer and Prakash Raj will be seen as a terrorist leader in the film. The first schedule of the film was earlier completed in Kulu Manali and currently second schedule is under progress at Hyderabad. The movie is not yet out in Telugu (as of 14 March, 2010), but Here is the review from Tamil Version.

Story:

The first half of the movie have two stories running in parallel and they connect in the second half.

1st Story:

Karthik (Arya) falls in love with Sandhya (Trisha) at first sight. Eventually, make her fall in love with him as well. Sadly, she meets with an accident right before the interval.

2nd Story:

Eshwar (JD. Chakravarthi) stalks Naushad (Indrajith) to kill his 8 year old son, Imaan (Rohan Shiva). Reason being that Naushad accidentally kills Eshwar's wife and son in an accident. Although the court forgives Naushad, Eshwar doesn't and want to kill Imaan and cause Naushad the same pain he is in as revenge. As a side note, we learn that Imaan is suffering from some heart problem. Right before the interval, the heart problem becomes life threatening to Imaan.

After the Interval : Combine Stories

Sandhya dies and Karthik get depressed (obviously). Soon he learns Sandhya's heart is transplanted into Imaan to save his life. Karthik goes to meet Imaan. Also, he explains to Naushad about Sandhya's heart and Naushad welcomes him and lets him visit Imaan. Later, Imaan is attacked Eshwar again, but saved by Naushad. Naushad gets hurt in the process, so Karthik offers to help take care of Imaan. For some reason, Imaan doesn't like Karthik and they don't get along too well. But Karthik, out of his love for Sandhya now for Imaan, deals with Imaan well, which makes Imaan eventually like Karthik. Eshwar strikes again, and Karthik saves Imaan. The movie ends with Naushad, Imaan and Karthik all happy and Eshwar disabled in a hospital.

Bottom Line :

The movie story is really close to the "Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa". Except Sarvam is a romantic/action movie, while DNJAK is a complete romantic entertainer.

‘Varudu’ heroine revealed !

The mystery is all over now. Allu Arjun and Guna Shekar had maintained suspense in the heroine of Varudu by not revealing about her. The promos of the film had the actress showing her back or a portion of the eye, but the face was not revealed to the media. This was one of the reason there were huge crowds gathered at the audio release function to know who the heroine is? But, GunaSekhar is successful in maintaining the mystery and left no clue.

However, the film-makers could not stop the revolutionary internet. The debutant actress is Bhanu Mehara and her picture is making rounds in the internet now. The actress has earlier played a small role in a bollywood film.

Story: It is the town of Rajahmundry and here lives Rajesh (nikhil) a handsome young man who is smart and uses his intellect to make loans throughout the place. His father (kasi viswanath) is a school teacher and they are basically a middle class family. One day, Shruti (swetha) dashes into their home in the process of escaping from a dog and accidentally her chain gets dropped. This falls into the hands of Rajesh and from then on, he keeps her on her toes asking her for many favors and assuring to give back the chain. The story takes a turn when Rajesh is forced to pledge the chain to save a friend from a problem and the chain goes to the fearsome Narendar Shetty (ajay). Shetty happens to be the 'bava' of Shruti who has been enquiring her about the chain since it has been missing. He decides to get her at any cost and what happens from there forms the rest of the story. Artist Performances: Nikhil's energetic performance is an asset to the movie.He is undoubtedly one of the promising actor's in the film industry. He is throwing challenge to the young crop of heroes with his performance, irrespective of his films success or failure. Swetha looks alright and her performance is also appealing but it is her physique which has to be changed. She has put on oodles of weight and is looking out of shape. Ajay is another talented actor and he has done full justice to it. The comedy gang of Ali (apt), Venu Madhav (okay), Raghu Babu (hilarious), Dharmavarapu (average) did their bit to add few laughs. Kasi Vishwanath, Ahuti Prasad and others contributed in the character roles. The item song girl Anitha looked hot and the rest of the cast didn't have much to offer. Plus Points: * Nikhil's energy levels * Ajay * Storyline * Dialogues * Music Minus Points: * beaten track * direction * sloppy patchwork * production values Analysis: Almost the entire backdrop of the film is in Rajahmundry and the film could have been a lot better if the makers worked on few twists and crisp editing. Atleast one or two good songs would have appealed to the masses. Though the content was interesting, it is the execution of the plot that went haywire and failed to engage the audience. Though there are few good sequences here and there, overall the feel of the movie is Ok. The masses will have few things to take home due to Nikhil's performance but apart from that, the film May shine at the box office. Verdict: Can Be Watched.

Story:

The film is set in the backdrop of a city and the hero is someone who has no iota of respect for studies or family. All he knows is tricking people. Kalavar King shows what happens when such a youth falls in love.

Review

Story

Chief Minister Sanjeevayya (Suman) gets killed in a landmine blast. His son Arjun Prasad (Rana) descends as next CM but after a series of political games with his opponents and power greedy Dhanunjay (Subba Raju). Arjun’s paternal uncle (Kota) also moves against Arjun.

Arjun is idealistic in nature and wishes to change the rules of political system in the state. How far is he successful? What is the method he has chosen to make that change? How people react to that? Who helped him in his cause? How enemies try to put an end for him? All that forms the story.

Artists Performance:

Rana deserves right encomiums for his portrayal. He has underplayed the role as per the requirement. His voice and diction are good. If he concentrates better on working out expressions, he will be a promising actor.

Richa Gangopadhyaya is like a sheer poetry in some scenes. The credit goes to costumes department and also cinematographer.

Priya Anand looks good but her role is not fitting into the narration.

Subba Raju, the antagonist, played histrionics very well and up to the mark. Harshavardhan is perfectly in tune in his role as protagonist’s yes-man. Rao Ramesh made his presence felt even with his small role. Kota Sreenivasa Rao is serious. Director would have used him better with some satirical and humorous dialogues, as audience expect in general. Udaya Bhanu arrested the eyes of audience with her item number. Others are ok.

Cinematography is good. Music and RR are marvelous. It’s really the RR (Re-Recording) that brought emotional grip to narration.

In first song, where Rana visits every slum and every corner to understand the society, is good. A scene where Rana leaves a cloth for a woman through water, reminds a bit from Attenborough’s ‘Gandhi’.
Rana’s dialogue about his willingness to die after dealing with Rs 1 Lakh crore scheme brought claps in theaters.

Old Man with Rana: Aadapillaki nyaayam cheyyaleni CM unte entha oodithey entha?

Disappointments:
Priya Anand’s character seemed to be waste. The film would have run better without her character.
DI problems were seen here and there those marred the clarity of picture on screen
Suhasini’s death and funeral scenes are very weak

Final Analysis:

It’s a sincere effort by the director to sketch the present political scenario in independent India. He has chosen the theme of corruption by politicians as main curse to system. Many films have come on corruption. And it’s a different version.

The film also delivers some idealistic ideas of smoking out black money from public to avoid making the state indebted to World Bank et al.

Everything is fine. But in this drama where there are many political technicalities are involved, there are chances that the director may lose mass audience, although he impresses the audiences those think.

The director has taken many cinematic liberties; those make audience look at each other’s face for finding lack of conviction. And some clearly evident mistakes:

When Chief Minister dies, only men come to visit his dead body. When Chief Minister’s wife dies, only women come to visit her funeral!! Howzzat??!! What’s that gender discrimination?

The son of CM walks on roads and no one identifies him in today’s world where media is so rampant. Can anyone imagine YS Jagan or Lokesh walking on roads and none identifying them? That’s not convincing. Director would have shown that the son of CM is going into masses in disguise.

Leader minus heroines’ track would have been the best product. Director would have told better things those go with the main theme in the minutes wasted for so-called romance track. With little care, the film would have become something in the standards of ‘Sarkar’!!

There are many moments in the film where the director touches the hearts of audiences and pulls tears from eyes.

First half of the film catches up pace since the beginning scene and gives a captivating feel by interval. Audiences found themselves meditatively pulled towards the screen. That’s the magic created by the director. And that magic leaves the audiences expecting something great in second half. The pace goes with ups and downs but something promising appears immediately after old man scene.

The scenes run faster from then and culminate into climax in idealistic tone. It’s a sincere effort by director with his understanding. Audiences connect to it connecting the movie to the present political conditions.

The film certainly pulls huge crowds due to the image procured by the director with his previous film ‘Happy Days’. The content in the movie appeals for B and C center audiences as well, if they connect that to present political conditions and watch. On a whole it’s a sincere and good product.

Review

Story

Ramesh, whose nickname is Rummy, gets into love with his friend Janaki in childhood itself. They spend good time together but Janaki advises him to grow powerful in society by earning big money. She also tells that she would marry him only then.

Rummy (Nagarjuna) becomes a gambler and starts earning. He betrays the men those become rich by false means through his gambling. ACP Sekhar (Sayaji Shinde) plans to catch Rummy but his attempts fail every time.

Rummy attracts Chandra (Ankur) who runs a pub and gambling in it. He settles a smuggling deal with Rummy and accomplishes that. In the meanwhile, in Goa, Rummy wins the heart of Linda (Nadia) as he saves her sister Sara (Poula) from a cruel man called Victor. Linda proposes to Rummy but he negates it.

On the other hand, Sandhya (Mamta Mohandas) helps Rummy in his missions. Who is Sandhya and what happened to Janaki? That is the suspense thread in the film that gets revealed in the climax.

Artists Performance:

Nagarjuna excelled as usual and there is no point to criticize him anywhere. He is looking younger year by year and that stands to be his USP.

Mamata Mohandas is just ok. She could have shined better being a glamorous quotient on silver screen. Costumes and make up could be better.

Brahmanandam brought many hopes whenhe entered but more was expected from him. Harshavardhan did good job.

Others are ok. Ankur in bad guy character did his best.

Cinematography is good. Editing is crisp and direction is commendable. Lyricist Chinni Charan wrote all the songs in the film and all are in tune with the contemporary taste of audience. But the music could have elevated the beauty of songs.

Final Analysis:

This is the movie that has been in news ever since the announcement of its title. The stills with youthful get up of Nagarjuna pulled the attention of many and the first proposed title ‘Rummy’ also caught the attention. Later, it was announced that the title changed to ‘Mosagadu’ that sounded rugged and old. Finally another obsolete title ‘Kedi’ was zeroed in. Many felt ‘Rummy’ could be the ideal title for this film as the hero’s nick name is Rummy (Ramesh) and it is also a card game that denotes gambling, the main crux of the movie. Telugu Movie Reviews

The director's lack of experiance is seen when he used the two energetic songs in the beginning itself. He might have used them in before the climax.

First half and second half go in similar tone with entertainment. The films like ‘Super’, where Nag played a role with negative tinge will be recalled while watching this.

Audiences sit with expectations when Anushka appears on screen with a special song imagining something in the standards of ‘bommali..bommali..’. But the expectations aren’t reached.

New director Kiran tried to give a full dose entertaining treat and he has failed to accomplish. It's confusing for masses. The love angle and emotions aren’t presented in a subtle way to attract class audience.

Ajay(manoj) is a person in a family belonging to one of the two faction families with heads,aahuti prasad[manoj's family,jaiprakash[rival]] who are aiming to become the MP of the region.Manoj was hated by all the people but used to bare him.He used to manage the people and see that he be always bindaas.Girija(sheena) was cousin to her who also hates him but after he rescue, she will fall in love with him.mena while the rival faction family attacks on manoj and what happed did manoj killed all the faction rivals or who he solved the faction problem,who became the MP on that region.This you can see it on celluloid screen.

Work:
Each and every department did their best.Starting from the song picturisation to the dubbing part every thing was fine.but the thing here is the story plot was pretty similar to thefaction films.Bramhanandam as branham,sunil as villains son,ms narayana as phakeer and bharat as ajay's only supporter in the family,cousine.Ahuti prasad acted as a aspiring MP fighting with jayprakash.

Highlights:Comedy,songs,picturization,dialogs,mano j's action,direction.heroin skinshow.

Drawbacks:screenplay was dull at times.theme line of the story was deep with some missing logics.

Ram Gopal Varma has once again pulled audience to theaters in mobs despite his recent debacle ‘Agyaat’. That shows the indelible image he has and the unchallenged faith he creates among audience promising something interesting and hitting at every attempt. Let us sail in to the bits and pieces of this movie Rann and know how far it’s interesting and how hard it’s hitting:

Story:

Vijay Harshavardhan Malik (Amitabh Bachchan) is the owner of ‘India 24x7’ Channel. He is very idealistic in thought and action. He believes that media is responsible for people in every aspect. He believes only in reporting and educating than sensationalizing and gossiping. His main competitor is another channel ‘Headlines 24’ whose MD is Amreesh Kakkar (Mohnish Behl).

Vijay’s son Jay Malik (Sudeep), a hyper sensitive personality, is a contrast to his father and his love interest in Yasmeen (Neetu Chandra). He tries to grow big earning huge bucks through the channel.

Mohan Pande (Paresh Rawal), the opposition party leader conspires to dethrone the ruling PM Hoodda by using top two channels India 24x7 and Headlines 24.

How badly the family of channel head effect with that conspiracy? How selfishness of politicians, channel owners and their family members ruin the society. How channels are using the instincts of people to make money? That forms rest of the story.

Performances:

Every artiste needs highest possible commendation.

Sudeep excelled as hyper sensitive guy. Neetu marveled with glamour and also with little scope for performance she was given.

Ritesh has underplayed while Amitabh has shown his thespian talent with impressive histrionics in the climax.

Paresh Rawal brought some laughs and Raj Pal Yadav many. Suchitra is sufficient in CEO’s role while Mohnish Behl did his best as competitor to Amitabh.

Technically the movie is another master piece. Music directors are many- Dharmaraj Bhatt, Sandeep Patil, Jayesh Gandhi, Bapi, Tutul, Sanjeev Kohli, Amar Mohile but still all compositions stand on par with each other with similar tone and note! But there are no great numbers those haunt till audience reach home.

Highlights:

1. Raj Pal Yadav’s program titles bring ample laughs in theaters. Here are some-

* ‘Pal Me Garam-Pal Me Naram’

Analysis:

It’s too much of preaching.

Generally ‘Varmaism’ is known for less dialogue and more action. But here it’s out of religion. It’s verbose. This movie is just for media people on media. Hence they get connected to this. But the preaching part may appeal only for a few.

It has ample stuff to learn by aspiring directors and cinematographers as it is another good text book for

* shot composition,
* single shot making, and
* usage of steady camera,
* optimal utilization of digital elements,
* lighting,
* background score and
* sound mixing.

But it may not entertain general audience. The theme chosen and executed is too heavy and concentrated. Above all it’s verbose and indoctrinating at the climax.

First half of the movie runs in pace with introduction of characters and their characterization with some story that moves ahead. Interval bang boosts up some interest and second half goes in similar plane and pace.

It’s a movie made with right motive but the narration sounds too idealistic. The two positive characters Poorab (Ritesh) and Vijay Malik (Amitabh) sound completely Utopian in their ideologies and approach which wouldn’t connect audience to reality. The script should have projected intelligence of these two protagonists than sincerity, patriotism etc. Thus, director missed ‘brain act’ in this and played only on ‘morals and ethics’.

On a whole it’s a sensible movie but the impact that it shows on media will be nil. The entertainment it gives for general audience wouldn’t fit the bill.
